The school to the west of Kyoto's central point is known as the area near Kyoto Imperial Palace and Kyoto Gyoen National Garden.It is 15 minutes by public transit from the heart of the city to these locations. ISI is located in the Nakagyo Ward, a central district of Kyoto, which is home to many of the city's most significant features. These include Nishiki Market, which is only 30 minutes by public transport from ISI.
In ISI, the Emmachi Railway Station is five minutes walking distance. The train line from the station travels through Kyoto and to Sonobe. Bus stops can be found in the neighbourhood for sightseeing outside of the railway line.
Nij, Summit Castle is located in Nakagyo Ward and is 12 minutes away by bus and 20 minutes by foot from Oshino Elementary School. The other attractions are also based in other parts of the town. The Fushimi Inari Shrine is approximately a 45 minute train ride from ISI, whereas the Bamboo Forest is roughly a 25-minute bus ride away.
ISI offers long-term and short-term courses of Japanese. These classes are structured around whether you need a visa to get into the country or not. Private lessons on Japanese are available at the school.
ISI maintains after class sessions to aid students who are looking to improve their futures in Japanese. There are sessions for career advancement as well as Ritsumeikan University Info Session sessions. Cultural activities include the Zen Meditation Experience, maiko experience and Japanese Kite Making.
