The New Asia--Yale-in-China Chinese Language Center (CLC) was founded in 1963 under the joint auspices of the New Asia College and Yale-China Association. It became part of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 1974 and has been teaching Chinese to both local and international students ever since.The CLC became a part of the Faculty of Arts in 2009 as the Yale-China Chinese Language Center.

The Centre of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CLC) provides Cantonese and Putonghua (Mandarin Chinese) training to second foreign language learners and Chinese speakers alike. Local and nonlocal CUHK bachelor's and postgraduate students and exchange students are served by the University Programme Section, but other learners are served by the Continuing Education Section of the Centre.The basic goals of CLCs Chinese language courses are to improve students' proficiency in communicating with others in their daily lives and professionally.

Modules according to CUHK undergraduate courses have been incorporated into CUHK's sub-degree award system, namely the Foundation Certificate, Certificate, Diploma, and Advanced Diploma award system.

The 134-hectare campus is located 30 to 40 minutes by bus from downtown Kowloon or Hong Kong Island to the Tolo Harbour. The Yale-China Chinese Language Center, founded in 1963, is in Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
