At the Bolivian Spanish School, we work hard to allow our students to fully experience the vibrant culture of Bolivia and Latin America in general. We pride ourselves on creating a comfortable environment for our students so that they are able to feel like the school is a second home to them. Together students, teachers and school staff form one big family. We invite you to come and join us here in Bolivia.
Our goal is to introduce students to our customs, traditions, and lifestyles in Bolivia through the Spanish language. The Spanish language skills and cultural knowledge that you acquire will make your stay in Sucre more enjoyable and enrich your travels in South America.
Our teachers in Sucre are qualified professionals with much experience teaching Spanish. All are from Bolivia and share a lot with students, making them know the city, the best places and customs. We think an excellent way for students to practice Spanish, immerse themselves in Bolivian culture and exchange experiences is to live with a Bolivian family.
In The Bolivian Spanish School, we organize different events throughout the week, such as cooking lessons, dancing lessons, game nights, movies, local tours, soccer and Bolivian volleyball and other outdoor activities, just to name a few. All the old, new students and teachers are invited to mingle together and enjoy themselves in a setting outside of the school.
LEARN & TRAVEL.
This unique and innovative program, the first of its kind in Bolivia, gives students the opportunity to learn and practice Spanish while exploring Bolivia. For us, teaching Spanish means sharing our culture, our traditions, and our country’s natural beauty. As we travel and study together we create friendships and build new bridges between diverse languages and cultures.
Volunteering and/or Work Opportunities: This program is FREE
Bolivian Spanish School (BSS) is well-connected throughout the city and, as such, many different organizations have opened their doors to both our long and short-term students. We can connect you with volunteer opportunities to match your interests, experience, and available time. Students have volunteered at local orphanages, psychiatric hospital, the psychopedagogy, Health center, and our lovely hostel.
In order to participate in these programs, each student must meet the following requirements:
1. The student should have at least a basic to intermediate level of Spanish with regards to both comprehension and verbal communication. For students who arrive without any prior Spanish language experience, this can be accomplished within 3 to 4 weeks of Spanish study, depending on the student´s ability, effort and hours dedicated to studying each week.
2. Students must submit a written request for their desired volunteer position. We will review and forward the request, along with the student´s resume or curriculum vitae, to the appropriate parties.
3. In order to work or volunteer with one of our affiliated institutions, the student must be available for at least 2 weeks.
