The teachers at this school believe in a more natural, authentic way of learning that de-emphasizes language theory in favor of experiencing the colloquial. Instead of textbooks, the Sevilla Language Center uses its own materials, as well as things like newspapers, films and TV programs, so that students learn Spanish as it is spoken, as opposed to a “correct” but artificial version. This approach favors a slower pace that allows deep immersion as instructors help the students sink into the culture and learn by their own initiative.
The school schedule is from 9 AM to 1:30 in the afternoon, with four hours of classes and a half hour coffee break. Tuition is based on the number of weeks of study and averages to about 150 euros per week. Extra classes and special events in the evening are optional.
Accommodations include shared student apartments or staying with a host family; in both cases, you can choose to share a bedroom with another student or get your own private bedroom for a slight raise in fee.
The Sevilla Language Center also provides TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) courses both at their campus and online.
